She was born March 16, 1916, in Fairview, Utah, to Alfred and Julia Hurst Hawkins. She married Leo Merle Kent on Oct. 28, 1935, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Iola served in many Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society positions and served a mission with her husband in their home ward in Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son James; sisters Rebecca, Phyllis, Edna and Edith; and brothers Leroy, Lawrence, Clifton, Rolla, Orson, Thomas, Joseph and Barstow.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at the Lewiston LDS chapel, 1600 West Center St. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. Arrangements are being made by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Burial will be in the Lewiston Cemetery.
