Edgar Elijah "Sambo" Sutton, 61, of 1200 Park Ave., Apt. A, Wilson, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Wilson Medical Center. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Lucama. Evangelist Geraldine Whitley will officiate. The burial will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
Loving memories are shared by a daughter, Betty Smith of the home; two sons, Christopher Lee Sutton of Atlanta, Ga., and Darrick Earl Sutton of Wilson; four sisters, Minnie Brather, Dorothy Sutton, Clementine Farmer, and Jennette Brooks, all of Wilson; two brothers, James Sutton Jr. and Eddie Lee Sutton, both of Wilson; one aunt, Annie C. Sutton, of Middlesex, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The body may be viewed Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends there from 7-8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the residence, where they will assemble one hour prior to the service in preparation for the funeral procession.
