He was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Pemiscott County, Mo., the son of the late John Edward Lamar and Bertha Martin Lamar.
He had lived most of his life in the community. He was self-employed in tire sales and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della (Hendley) Lamar, in 1994 and one daughter, Marie Burge, in 1996.
Survivors include seven sons, Oneil Lamer of Hayti, James Lamar of Monette, Melvin Lamar of Rector, William Lamar of Paragould, Gregory Lamar of Gainesville, and Joseph Lamar and Anthony Lamar of Paragould; eight daughters, Jeanette Waddell of Paragould, Patsy Lunsford of Corning, Katherine Watson and Cathy Steele of Peach Orchard, and Alissa Bolton, Malody Muse, Lori Dixon and Elizabeth Campbell, all of Paragould; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Ramer's Chapel Methodist Church with Dr. Wayne Gould officiating.
Burial was in Ramer's Chapel Cemetery west of Rector with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
