Wade, 85, died at home after a long illness. He was born a son of the late Thomas Jordan and Sophronia Creech Jordan. He graduated from Smithfield High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following service in the U.S. Army in World War II, he received his master's degree from Colorado State University. He was employed by the Raleigh News and Observer as the Rocky Mount area distributor for twenty years before returning to teaching in the Nash County School System. He was a member of First Baptist Church. His wife of sixty years, Betty Eskridge Jordan, formerly of Shelby, NC; son, Dr. Wade T. Jordan and wife, Patricia of Springfield, MO, and Dr. David A. Jordan and wife, Wanda of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Megan Patricia Jordan, Katalin Elizabeth Jordan and Rebecca McKee Jordan, all of Burlington, NC and Matthew Thomas Jordan and Sarah Elizabeth Jordan of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by one brother, L. R. Jordan of Anniston, AL.
