She was born Virginia Marie Canterbury on Aug. 29, 1931, in Freedom, PA, a daughter of the late Helen Bastian Canterbury and the late George Canterbury and stepdaughter of the late Charles Klinesmith.
Virginia was a pillar of strength, love and support to her family. She was a tender hearted, funny, gentle, patient and wise woman who had a smile that could light up a room. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother a family could dream of and a dear devoted friend to many.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by
her husband, George Batch Sr.; a daughter, Joyce Zielinski and brothers, John and Gary Klinesmith.
Surviving are a son, George (Darlene) Batch, Jr., Myrtle Beach, SC; a granddaughter, Christina Riley, Pittsburgh, PA; two grandsons, George A. Batch, Baden and Matthew Batch, Ambridge, PA; a great-grandson, Carter Batch; brothers, Kenneth Canterbury, Palm Bay, Florida; Charles Klinesmith, Largo, FL and Terry Klinesmith, Freedom, PA; a sister, Nancy Cresson, Mauk, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Toney Salva, pastor of Discovery Christian Church of Cranberry. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
