John Henry Daech, 75, of Ritter street, Edwardsville, died at noon Monday in Barnes hospital, St. Louis, from an illness of about two months. He was a former Edwardsville police officer, an assistant supervisor of Edwardsville township, a former Edwardsville area dealer for a brewing company and a fireman for Woodlawn Gardens for many years.
He was born May 9, 1877, in Edwardsville and has been a lifelong resident. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. William Daech of Edwardsville. He was married to Mrs. Catherine Richter in January 1905 at Edwardsville.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Leroy Daech of Edwardsville; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Gladys) Truitt of Vandalia, and five grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Lesley Marks funeral home after 12 noon Wednesday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home with Rev. John E. Attey officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alfred Daech, Clarence Daech, August Senn, Glenn Spindler, John Schumacher and Henry Richter.
