Jack Heywood Puckett, 78, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at his home. He was born in Hahira on Feb. 11, 1930, to the late Edward D., Sr. and Mary Hall Puckett. He was educated in the Valdosta School System and served for six years in the United States Navy, having went on several world tours. Mr. Puckett was retired from Moody Air Force Base as a personnel specialist and Valdosta City School System as treasurer of sports finances. He pulled chains for the Valdosta Wildcats for 30 years that came second to his love of the First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. Mr. Puckett was a Red Coat at South Georgia Medical Center having served 16,500 volunteer hours.
