Roy E Gasswint, 79, passed away March 17, 2013 at his home in Abilene surrounded by his family. He was born on July 16, 1933, youngest of 4 children in Dickinson County, the son of Ira and Leona (Elliott) Gasswint. Parents and siblings preceded him in death. Roy served his country in the Navy on the USS Boxer during the Korean War. On December 18, 1961 he married Donna (Steinborn) and their married life was spent in Abilene. Roy worked most of his life as a truck driver working over 10 years for Vigortone Ag Products and then for many years for Bailey Truck Line before retiring in 2010. Roy is survived by his wife of 51 years, a daughter Lori (Scott) Wiley of Detroit, a daughter Dayna (Brad) Shaffer of Salina, a son Roy (Lisa) of Abilene, and a daughter Nita Dalton of Abilene, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Roy was an avid Nascar fan and got to attend his first Nascar race in 2012. Any time a race was on television you would find Roy in his recliner rooting for his favorite drivers. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 22nd, 6:00-7:00 at Danner's Funeral Home. Body was cremated and family will have private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers family suggest memorials to Hospice of Dickinson County or American Cancer Society.
