Edward C. Gusewelle, native resident of Pin Oak Township, died this morning at 6:45 o'clock at his home 240 South Buchanan Street, following a lingering illness. He was 69 years of age.
Remains are being held at the Marks-Weber Funeral Home where private services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock followed by services at the Immanuel M.E. Church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Rev. D.A. Tappmeyer will officiate.
Mr. Gusewelle was born Jan. 22, 1862 in Pin Oak Township and was the son of Fred W. and Louisa Gusewelle. He has always lived in this vicinity and followed the occupation of farming until his retirement six years ago. His marriage to Miss Anna C. Engeling of Pin Oak occurred Nov. 4, 1885 at the Immanuel M.E. Church in this city. Rev. M. Schneirele performed the ceremony. Mr. Gusewelle was a member of the Immanuel M.E. Church in this city.
Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Walter J. Gusewelle, Edwardsville, Arthur F. Gusewelle, Pin Oak, two grandsons, Justin and Merlin Gusewelle of Pin Oak; three brothers, his twin brother, Fred A. Gusewelle of Gresham, Oregon, Frank J. and Amos O. Gusewelle of this city; three sisters, Etta, Ida and Lydia Gusewelle of Edwardsville.
