Earl Leslie Stark, 83, known by many in or around Traer, who for more than 50 years, was a telegraph operator and station agent for the Rock Island railroad at Dinsdale and later at Grundy Center, died Thursday afternoon of last week in Sartori hospital at Cedar Falls, shortly after suffering a heart attack. His funeral services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon in the First United Methodist church of Cedar Falls, conducted by Dr. Harvey Nelson, pastor, with burial In Rose Hill cemetery at Grundy Center.

Mr. Stark was born November 26, 1886, in Holabird, South Dakota, son of Quincy and May Stark. He married Mary Bicket, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thom as Bicket of Dinsdale, who have been deceased many years, on June 18, 1907. They came to Cedar Falls in 1942. He was a member of Emerald Masonic Lodge No. 334, and the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen at Grundy Center, the Cedar Falls Historical society and First United Methodist church. Survivors include his widow; 4 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Verly of Grundy Center, Mrs. Ralph (Ev­elyn) Heltibridle, Waterloo, Mrs. Ethan (Grace) Akin of Waterloo, and Mrs. Elmer (Marge) Fritzel of Wellsburg, a son, William , of Centerville; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Stark often attended the annual Wilson Clan picnic held in Traer in August of each year, which will celebrate its 50- year reunion in Traer during the coming summer.
