He was killed in action when his B-24 was hit by flak and crashed 15 miles west southwest of Venosa, Italy during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

removed from Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, Bergen, NJ and re-interred on 11/22/1948.
Joseph served as a Corporal on B-24L #44-49024, 830th Bomber Squadron, 485th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Essex County, New Jersey prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 6, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
