DIES AGED 78 YEARS

Veteran of Civil War Expires
At His Home On Spruce
Street

Hezekiah Mongan, 78 years old, and a veteran of the Civil War, died at 7:30 o'clock last night at his home, 716 Spruce Street from infirmities of age following a lingering illness. Mr. Mongan served during the Civil War in Co. K Seventh Maryland Infantry. He was a member of Reno Post G.A.R.

Mr. Mongan is survived by his widow, five sons, James, William and Frederick Mongan, of Mt Morris, Ill, and Hugh and Benjamin Mongan, of this city, and four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Gigous, Washington, and Mrs. Molly Smith, Mrs. Effie Lechron and Mrs. Kieffer Remsburg, this city.

The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev W M Norment, pastor of the First Christian Church, of which Mr. Mongan was a member, will officiate at services at the church. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Son of: Christian C Mongan (b: 1812 d: 1858) and Rosanna Miller Mongan Groff.
Christian and Rosanna were married Dec 3, 1834, and were the parents of 7 children.
Rosanna's 2nd husband was Joseph Groff, married March 18, 1858 (b: abt 1800 d: June 28, 1868 at his home near Jones' Crossroads)

Hezekiah's second wife was Susan E "Susie" Routzahn Curl Easterday Mongan who he married Oct 11, 1907.
