Rosa Catherine Guettner Barnard Smith

Private family services for Rosa Catherine Smith, 80, Bettendorf, will be held at Davenport Memorial Park.

There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

The former Rosa Guettner was born March 12, 1916, in Roane County, Tenn., the daughter of Samuel Henry and Annie Tutterrow Guettner. She married Hugh Barnard Dec. 24, 1938, in Kingston, Tenn. He died Nov. 10, 1964. She married Omer J. Smith June 21, 1979, in Bettendorf. He died Oct. 19, 1979.

She enjoyed gardening and reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include daughters, Patricia Wendhausen, LeClaire, Iowa, Betty Wilson, of Holland, Peggy Barnard and Debbie Barnard, both of Bettendorf; sons, David Barnard, Fenton, Ill., Don Barnard, Bloomington, Ill.,

Dale Curtis Barnard, Kingston, Tenn.,

and Dwight Barnard, Davenport; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Rogers and Ruby Robinette, both of Kingston, Gussie Elliott, Salisbury, Md.; and a brother, John Guettner, Kingston.
