Reta was born on March 13, 1919 in Green City, Missouri to James Oliver "J.O." and Lotie Mae (Page) Martin.
She married William Leland Fields on October 17, 1941 in Green City, he preceded her in death on January 1, 1979.
She was also preceded by: her parents; a daughter, Donna Westhoff; 3 brothers, Rueben, Oliver, and Dale Martin; and 6 sisters, Alice Cornmesser, Anna Carr, Faye Morgan, Elverine Anderson, Page Smith, and Irma Stuart.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joy Fields of Green City; five grandchildren, Darin Westhoff and wife Janet, Jody (Westhoff) Seeley and husband Troy, Dana (Westhoff) Wheater and husband Scott, Jason Westhoff and wife Joani, and Erin Fields; 9 great grandchildren, Taylor and Davis Westhoff, Abby, Emily, and Katie Westhoff, Kennedy, Drew, and Ashtyn Wheater, and Carley Seeley; One sister, Juanita Rouse of Green City; and several nieces and nephews.
Reta has lived in Green City off and on for her entire life; she also lived in Canton, Missouri for 7 years and moved from place to place for the first 15 years of her marriage as a Navy wife. Reta was a past member of the American Legion Auxillary, and attended the Presbyterian Church. She loved sewing, crafts, and antiques. She really enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, and playing cards and games. Most of all Reta loved her family and having family get-togethers.
A Funeral service for Reta was held 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Rolf Christen officiated. Music was provided by Leroy Martin.
Pallbearers were Junior Carr, Russell Alexander, Junior Lloyd, Paul Judd, David Carte, and Martin Lloyd. Honorary Pallbearers were Denny Carte, Kevin Carte, and David Carr.
Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City.
