Clayton died on the way to Cortland County Hospital. He was interred at Valley View Cemetery on July 15, 1951.

He was twice married. (1) In 1904, he married Miss Bernice Lamb. To this union was born one daughter, Ruth, who died Feb. 10, 1927. They also brought up Mrs. Leon Kingsbury. (2)On July 18, 1942 in DeRuyter, Madison, New York, Clayton married Mrs. Charlotte "Lottie" (Chappel) Banks, widow.

1951: Clayton R. Calvert, 69, of Taylor, died at the Corland County Hospital Thursday. He was born June 20, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt Calvert of Otselic. He was a retired superintendent of town highways. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Banks Calvert; and a daughter, Mrs. Leon Kingsbury of South Otselic. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Calvert home in Taylor with Rev. Charles Ackley officiating; Interment will be at South Otselic Cemetery.

Clayton R. Calvert was born June 20, 1882, in Otselic, N.Y. He was twice married. His first companion was Bernice Lamb. To this union was born one daughter, ruth, who died Feb. 10, 1927. They also brought up Mrs. Leon Kingsbury. In July 1942, he was married to Mrs. Lottie Banks of Taylor. Mr. Calvert served as Highway Supt. in the town of Otselic. Mrs. and Mrs. Calvert moved from South Otselic to Taylor in 1946. During the last year, his health has failed rapidly due to a heart ailment. He died on the way to Cortland Hospital July 12. His wife and Mrs. Kingsbury, several nieces and nephews survive him. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church in South Otelic, Sunday, July 15, 1951, at 2 o"clock, Rev. Charles Ackley, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic.
