OBITUARY-
Thomas J. Koenigs, 95, of Adams, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, Iowa.

He was born Sept. 10, 1906, in Meyer, Iowa, to Peter and Anna (Kloeckner) Koenigs. He attended Sacred Heart School in Meyer, Iowa and worked for various local farmers.
After his marriage to Mildred Kloeckner on Feb. 9, 1932, the couple moved to the Adams area where Thomas farmed. He retired in 1961 from farming and worked for the Great Western Railroad for 10 years. In the early 1970s, the couple moved to Adams where Thomas resided until his health forced him to move into the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in July 2001.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, the Knights of Columbus, Rosary Club and Railroad Union.
He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and making rosaries.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marian Huntley-Lickteig and husband Fred, Rose Creek; Theresa and Roger Harding, Nashua, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Carol Koenigs, Rochester; Fred and Jean Koenigs, Adams; Ronald and Theresa Koenigs, Cambridge, Ill.; Dick and Pat Koenigs, Stewartville; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rosina Koenigs, Stacyville, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; daughter, Catherine; brothers, John, Joseph, Aloysious, Leo, Mathew, Henry and Philip; sisters, Katie Wettstein, Theresa Schneider, Mary Fasbender, Elizabeth Loecher, Anna Hartogh and Gertrude Koenigs.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., today, April 8, 2002, with a 4:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Prayer Service and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory Leif officiating. Organist will be Helen King. Casket bearers will be Allan Huntley, David Huntley, Brian Koenigs, Daniel Koenigs, Alan Humiston and Brad Elpert.
Interment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Adams.
Funeral Home: Adams Funeral Home, Adams.
