The WPA records report, "Otis, Mrs. Abigail, consort of Nathaniel, daughter of Rev. Jonathan Russel of Barnstable, died at Mansfield, Mar. 20, 1774 age 87 years."
The Norwich Packet reported,
"Mansfield, March 22, 1774
Last Sabbath Day Morning departed this
Life, Mrs. Abigail Otis, in the 87th Year
of her Age, and was this Day decently inter-
red, when the Rev. Mr. Welch preached
a Sermon suitable to the occasion, from
Prov. xxzi. 30 But a Woman that feareth
the Lord she shall be praised."

As ABIGAIL'S father was pastor of the Barnstable West Parish church from 1683 until his death in 1711, when he was succeeded by his son Jonathan, Jr., Abigail, was born of record at Barnstable Oct 2, 1687 [Barn. VRs.]
