ICHABOD WHITE, born in Addison, Maine, September 4, 1791. When eight years of age, he went to live with his sister, Mrs. Nash in Columbia, Maine, where he remained until his first marriage, February 12, 1812, to Lucinda Bancroft. At his marriage, Mr. Nash divided his hundred-acre lot and gave Ichabod the northern half. It is said, that out of the heavy growth which covered it, he cut a place large enough for the foundation of a house. At length, the county built a road past the dwelling in the woods, and gradually the forest gave way to open fields. Mrs. White died October 22, 1826, leaving seven children. In 1827, he married Pamelia, daughter of James Nash, born in 1806. Mr. White died November 1867 and is buried in the family lot on his farm. Mrs. White died August 1889.
