He was the son of Robert L. and Blanche L. (Heitzman) Bland. He worked at Owens Glass for 23 years until the plant closed. He then moved to Wickenburg, Arizona and began work in January of 1984 and Benner-Nauman and was there for 29 years.
He is survived by three sons, James M., Sr. of Texas, Joseph (Britany) of Sherrils Ford, N.C, Arizona, Jason (Tracey) Bland of Peoria, Arizona; and his companion, Carolyn Petty also of Arizona. Also surviving are four brothers, Fred (Jane) Heitzman of Dow, Ed (linda) of Godfrey, James (Vickie) of Metropolis, Illinois, and Stanley of Grafton; and five sisters, Nancy Booth of Dow, Judy (Erich) Kassler of Grafton, Roberta (Steve) Donelson of Godfrey, Shirley (Delbert) Young of Dow, and Betty Summers-Bland (Steve Reeves) of Greenfield, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dale; his grandson, James Michael, Jr.; three brothers, Robert W. (Bill), Richard N. (Dick), and Larry E.; one sister, Irene Bland.
