Passes Here Feb. 7

Joseph A. Pruss, 83, a resident of the Orchard-Royal community for more than 50 years before moving to Creighton about six years ago, died Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Creighton Senior Citizens Home after an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at St. Ludger Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel E. Galas, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery.

Joseph Andrew Pruss was born Jan. 7, 1884 in Poland to Anthony and Mary Pruss. At the age of seven, he accompanied his parents to this country, settling at Snyder. He lived there until the age of 23, when he moved to the Orchard-Royal vicinity. He moved to Creighton in 1961.

He married Mary Bauer on June 9, 1914 at Creighton. Seven children were born to them. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1964.

Survivors are his widow; five daughters, Mrs. Francis (Angeline) Bannon of Belle Plaine, Ia., Mrs. Earl (Margaret) Quackenbush of Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Clarence (Rosalia) Kimble of LaPorte City, Ia., Mrs. Adrian (Joann) Cummings of Hazel Crest, Ill and Mrs. Bernard (Bernadine) Rayer of Creighton.; one son, Joseph B. Pruss of Creighton; 30 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and three brothers, John of Snyder, Anthony of Orchard and Albert of Dodge.

One daughter, Theresa, preceded him in death.
