OBITUARY Nancy Kirk-Conquest
Nancy Kirk was born May 4, 1852, in Decatur County, Iowa, and died on April 12, 1921, at the home of her daughter Mrs. J. P. Koehler, near Oberlin, Kansas, attaining the age of 68 years, 11 months, 8 days. At an early age she was converted and united with the Baptist church, retaining membership therein at the time of her death. She was married in 1871 to James Riley Conquest, who preceded her in death in January, 1915. Mr. and Mrs. Conquest located in Phillips county in 1873 and reared a family of six children, all of whom are living; Lee Conquest, of Goodland, Fred Conquest, El Reno, Ok., Mrs. J. L. Koehler, Oberlin, Mrs. Mark McDowell, Pocatello, Idaho, Mrs. Otto Mercer, Goodland, and Roy Conquest of Dresden.
Deceased was a sister of Mrs. J. J. Harmon of this city, and since the death of Mr. Conquest had made her home here, going to Oberlin a short while before her death to visit at the home of her married daughter. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother and friend and her sudden taking away is keenly felt by all who knew her. The remains were brought here for interment, funeral being conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Baptist church.
