Jeanette Elaine Long Jeanette Elaine Long was born in Tulare, California on May 26, 1937. She passed away in Clovis, California on August 20, 2013, following a brief illness. The daughter of Benjamin Slayton and Evelyn McCartney, (both deceased), she grew up in Tulare and has lived in the San Joaquin Valley all of her life. She has been a resident of Visalia for the past ten years where she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death in 1998 by her second husband, James G. Long, a retired Fresno Firefighter. After moving to Visalia, Jeanette became active in volunteer work and various senior activities, which included enjoying many bus tours throughout California with senior groups. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Heaney and a son, Steven Findley, both of Fresno; a step-daughter, Sharon Calvert (David), and a step-son, Mark Long (Patsy), both residing in Lancaster, California. She is also survived by her brother, Benjamin Slayton (Pat), of Alabama, Jerry Slayton (Beverly), of Hanford; three half-sisters; Mary Henderson (Doug), of Exeter, Johnnie Lallament (Larry), of Sacramento, Roberta Slayton, of Visalia, and two half-brothers; Bill Hixon, of Nevada, and Henry Slayton (Pat) of Alabama. Jeanette also leaves 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
