BROWNSBURG – Dan Ray Harris, age 69, of Brownsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on April 19, 1944 in Indianapolis as the son of Oliver Carvin and Ruth (Bentley) Harris. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1962. He married Sandy (Dayvolt) Harris on June 10, 1978 in Speedway, IN.

Dan was a carpenter and member of the Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 60 Union. He was a member of Kingsway Christian Church in Avon. He loved go-karting and even customizing his go-karts, Harley motorcycles, boating, camping, spending time on the Ohio River, and reading. He was known to be quite an innovator. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Surviving Dan are his wife, Sandy Harris of Brownsburg; children, Lauri (Mark) Shannon of Shelbyville, Melissa (Jimmie) Woolard of Gainesville, FL, Brian Ray Harris of Whiteland, and Jeremy Dale (Sara) Harris of Franklin; grandchildren, Elliott and Connor Shannon, Bradley, Zachary, and Noah Woolard, and Dylan Ray and Isaac Edward Harris; brother, Dale (Bonnie) Harris of Fairland; sister, Linda Johnson of Morristown; brother-in-laws, Larry (Karen) Dayvolt and Terry (Susie) Dayvolt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Bradley Ray Harris; and brother-in-law, Duane Johnson.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at the mortuary. Jerry Adamson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fountaintown Cemetery in Fountaintown.
