Sheri G. West Lewis (June 3, 1964 - Oct. 16, 2007)

LEWIS, SHERI WEST A devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister, and an accomplished public relations professional, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 after a hope-filled battle with breast cancer. She was 43 years old.
Memorial Service: 3 p.m. Friday, October 19 at North Hills Funeral Home, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas, 75244, or www.komen.org.
Known for her stamina, faith and sheer will to live life to the fullest, Sheri became a tireless crusader for breast cancer awareness, research and treatment, raising thousands of dollars for the cause and sharing her story through countless news stories and public appearances. At the time of her death, Sheri was training to walk 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk to fight the disease. In 2006, she walked 40 miles in the 3-Day event, despite ongoing chemotherapy treatment. Throughout her 5-year breast cancer battle, Sheri's joy for life brought smiles and laughter to family and friends alike. She lived her life with unconditional compassion and generosity. Her greatest source of pride and joy was her daughter Madeleine, with whom she traveled frequently and created countless lifelong memories that will be cherished. Sheri was born on June 3, 1964 in North Richland Hills. She grew up in both Amarillo and Grapevine, Texas and attended Canyon and Grapevine High Schools respectively, and earned a Bachelors degree from University of Texas at Arlington. Following graduation, Sheri worked for public relations firms including Maples Communications and most recently Weber Shandwick. As much as colleagues admired her work, they were more impressed at how Sheri balanced her life, volunteering at both OC Taylor Elementary and Grapevine Baylor Hospital, where she counseled fellow breast cancer patients. She was an active member of Fellowship Church.
She was the beloved wife of Steve; loving mother of Madeline Loose and step-mother of Olivia and Rachel Lewis; cherished daughter of Gary and Nacia West of Colleyville; granddaughter of Maxine West; devoted sister of Roy West of Colleyville; and fond niece of Peggy and Bob of Colleyville; and Alyce & Ed of Weatherford. She is also survived by many, many loving friends and colleagues.
Sheri was preceded in death by grandparents -- Clayton & Jane Steward and Roy West and Uncle Leroy West.
While her physical presence was taken from us too soon, Sheri's kind spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Sheri lived life fully, loved completely and left those around her forever smiling at the very mention of her name.
