Joseph Bruce Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Joseph P. "Joe" Bruce Jr., 76, a native and resident of Cut Off who died at 7:12 a.m. Oct. 28, 2001. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to funeral time at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

He was the husband of Clara Mae Plaisance Bruce; father of Robert "Bobby" Bruce, Cynthia B. Galliano, Rhonda B. Gautreaux and Deidra B. Guidry; brother of Leon Sr., Leonce and Philomene Bruce and Julia Autin. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. and Lucille Guidry Bruce; brother, Octave Bruce Sr.; sisters, Octavie and Leona Toups, Nora Cheramie and Josephine Guidry.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Knights of Columbus No. 3150 and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed gardening and picking pecans. He was a shrimper.
