Victor Lovell Turner, 88, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Plano.

Service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park East Mausoleum with the Rev. Ken Cole, associate pastor of Saint Stephen United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Victor was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Dalhart to Cecil and Goldie Turner. He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1943 and West Texas State University in 1966. Victor joined the Army Air Force in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He met the love of his life in Stillwater, Okla., while attending Oklahoma State University and married Beverly Jane Corbett on May 27, 1951, in Enid, Okla.

Victor and Beverly moved to Amarillo to start their new life, where Victor was employed by Santa Fe Railway in the audit department. Victor held several accounting positions before opening his own service in Amarillo as an accountant and enrolled agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He operated independently until 1999, when he retired.

Victor was an avid golfer in the Amarillo area for many years and was proudest of his four holes-in-one during his golfing career. He was a member of the Amarillo AMBUCS organization based at San Jacinto Baptist Church and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church while in Amarillo.

Victor and Beverly relocated to Plano to be with their daughter and her family in 1998 and spent three years in the Seattle area, while continuing to follow his daughter's family, eventually returning to the Plano area in 2002. During his time in Plano, he continued golfing and became a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano and recently celebrated his 62nd wedding anniversary with Beverly this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl Elton Turner; and a son, Victor Richard Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Turner of Plano; a daughter, Neva Alford of Southlake; his daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Rodney Thompson of Plano. He was proudest of his six grandchildren, Cindy, Victor, David, Jonathon, Trey and Monica; and five great-grandchildren.
