Ricky Dean "Smokey" Crawford, 49, and his son, David Wayne "Little Man" Crawford, 22, both of Colfax Road, Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013.

Ricky was born October 7, 1963, in Frenchburg, a son of Nelson Crawford, who preceded him in death, and Dolly Link Fawns and husband, Harold Fawns, of Hillsboro.

Also surviving are two sons, Ricky Crawford II and William Crawford, both of Hillsboro; one granddaughter, Kaylee Tackett; three brothers, Billy R. Crawford and Henry Curtis, both of Morehead and Danny Crawford of La Grange; two sisters, Frances Louise Riddle of Owingsville and Melissa "Lisa Mae" Gardner of Hillsboro. Two brothers, Wayne Crawford and Samuel Curtis, preceded him in death.

"Little Man" was born April 4, 1991, in Rowan County and is survived by his mother, Lisa Faye (Giles) Himes of Hillsboro; two brothers and one sister, Ricky Crawford II, William Crawford, and Whittlee Himes, all of Hillsboro; a stepbrother, Zachary Himes of Berea; step grandfathers, Ernest Holbrook of Clearfield and Harold Fawns of Hillsboro; grandmothers, Delphia Holbrook and Dolly Fawns and husband Harold, all of Hillsboro.

Ricky and "Little Man" enjoyed the outdoors, farming, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and riding horses.


Joint funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Richard Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Crawford Cemetery at Colfax.

Visitation is 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Ricky was the grandson of John Henry and Mattie May Walton Link.
