He was born Feb. 17,1861 at Shelby,a son of Merritt & Cynthia Brockway Burt. In 1895 he was united in marriage with Miss Laura Barbour of this city,who survives together with several cousins.
Mr. Burt was a retired businessman,having come here 12 years ago from Florida.
He and his brother perfected the first two cycle engine for boats and for several years he lectured to students in leading colleges of the country on his invention. For a number of years he was connected with the Ferro Machine and Foundry Co.of Cleveland. He was a member of the Galion Lodge of Elks and a Knight Templar.
