Hilmer Benjamin Larson
was born on a farm near
Schaller, Iowa on June 22,
1889. His Father and Mother,
Lewis and Elizabeth Soleberg
Larson were pioneers in northern
Iowa. He received his
education in the local schools,
learning well the lesson of
good farming, which he practiced
through all his active
years.
He was united in marriage
to Miss Anna Kracht on
March 17, 1915. The wedding
took place in Sac City. The
young couple settled on the
farm in which they were active
until 1946 when they
retired to Newell.
Mr. Larson joined the Methodist
church in the Galbraith
community where with
his wife they worshipped and
assisted until they moved
their membership to Newell.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Larson
gave generously of their substance
and strength, to the
Church and to their friends.
He was also a member of
the Odd Fellow and Rebekah
Lodges for many years.
The end of life came on
March 30 at the Buena Vista
County Hospital. His health
began to fail about six
months ago. The end came
after much distress which he
bore courageously. Though
his kindly friendship will be
missed as long as we live,
we cannot begrudge him his
release from his suffering.
In his passing Mr. Larson
leaves behind his wife, nieces
and nephews and a circle of
friends as large as was his
acquaintance. He is the last
of his family of three sisters
and two brothers to answer
the eternal call.
