Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson reported during a 2:45 p.m. Wednesday news conference that preliminary autopsy results received today from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences confirmed what police had concluded at the Sycamore Drive crime scene.
Thompson reported that Wellesley C. Owen was stabbed in the front of his body by childhood friend Mitchell K. Warren, who then took his own life also using a knife. The bodies were discovered on the first floor of the two-story home in which the incident occurred.
He added that police have "no idea of motive or anything like that" in the case, which he said is closed.
Mayor Bill Gillespie Jr., who attended the news conference, called the double deaths a "tragedy for the entire community."
