Odessa Osborne Dix, 87, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Odessa Dix was born on March 26, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, VA, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Osborne. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and sang with the choir. She was involved with numerous charitable activities. She was employed until her retirement with the Greensboro City Schools. She lived in Greensboro after marriage and has resided at Skeet Club Manor Assisted Living in High Point, NC for the past three years.

Odessa was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1993, mother, Ruth (Osborne) Hall in 1994, father, Joseph Osborne in 1970 and brother, Willard Osborne in 2010.

Lovingly remembered by: daughters, Carlene Dix & partner, Gloria Bernadine Russell, of High Point, North Carolina, Diane Stallings & husband, Larry of Sandy, Utah, granddaughter, Heather Drake & husband, Matt and her great grandchildren, Roman and Mattea Drake, all of Broomfield, Colorado, and grandson, John Carl Stallings, of Los Angeles, California; lifelong friend and "Sister", Hortense Hopper of Stokesdale, NC, sister, Brenda Simmons & husband, Adrian of Burlington, North Carolina; brother, David Osborne & wife, Pherne of Mebane, NC and sisters-in-law, Lenora Reece & family of Greensboro, North Carolina, Pauline Osborne & family of Danville, Virginia.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, her final resting place beside her devoted and loving husband of 46 years.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Monday, April 23 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall.
