Services for Doyle James Bennett, 95, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Bennett passed away August 20, 2013. He was born June 17, 1918 in Hope, Arkansas to Commadore and Nettie Bennett.
While at Camp Fannin, Doyle met Bessie and they married on July 20, 1944. They were married for 62 years. Doyle worked at Tyler Pipe for 26 years and retired at age 62. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bessie and daughter Karen Gayle Gray.
He is survived by his loving family including his son, Dr. Neill Bennett and wife Kaye of Lake Jackson; daughters, Donna Jean Smith of Shreveport, LA., and Doris Ellen Jarvis and husband Randell of Tyler. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Blaire Briggs, Neill Bennett, Jr., Brad Schilling, Randy Brewer and Sal Genovese.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
