MARION: Roberta May James, age 91, of Marion, Ohio died enexpectedly Monday morning, August 12, 2013, in the emergency room of Marion General Hospital after a fall at her home.

True to form, she had entertained a dinner guest and had canned pickles and Zucchini relish on the weekend. Roberta was born April 19, 1922 in Montgomery Twp., Marion Co., Ohio to the late Bertha (Kern) Kinsler and Vernon C. Kinsler. She was a 1940 graduate of Agosta High School. She attended beauty school in Marion and during World Warr II she worked at the Scioto Ordance in Marion testing explosive material for bombs. She and her former husband, Donald James, farmed for many years and later she was employed at the Betty Zane Popcorn Factory on Bellefontaine Ave. in Marion. She retired from the Columbia Gas Company.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth (Ruth Drake) Kinsler and Vernon C. Kinsler Jr., one sister, Golda Kinsler (Irvin) Dutton and an infant daughter.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Eva) James of New Bloomington; three granddaughters, Robin James (Steve) Herr, Kimberly James, Misty James (Andy) Herold; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by special niece, Susan (Kinsler) Dean, special cousins, Ken Kneisley and Bob Roberts, nephews, Dennis, Kenneth, and Randall Kinsler, Michael Dutton and niece, Jacquelyn (Kinsler) Gillings and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Roberta was a member of Mary Lenox Chapter of the Eastern Stars, LaRue, Ohio, Lydia Chapter in Marion, Ohio and the White Shrine of Marion, Ohio. She was noted for always helping with the meals for these organizations and seemed happiest volunteering in the kitchen. She was also a member of Prospect Street UMC, Marion, Ohio.

There will be a graveside service at the Agosta Cemetery in New Bloomington, OH on August 26, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. with her great nephew, Dr. John Dean officiating.
