Margaret was the daughter of William S. Pitzer (1790-1864) and Hannah (French) Jordan Pitzer (1794-1873).

George [2nd] married Nancy (?) Barnes (born c.1830).

In the 1880 U.S. Census, George and Nancy were living in Falling Waters, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

George T. BARNES, the son of Ishmael and Maria A. (Crown) Barnes, was born in Berkeley County, West Virginia, on April 22, 1829. His father was a soldier in the 1812 war and died April 5, 1849; his mother died May 14, 1873.

In Berkeley County, on February 26, 1852, George Barnes was married to his first wife, Margaret Pitzer, born August 13, 1834, in Berkeley County to William and Hannah (French) Pitzer, natives of that county. Margaret's father died October 31, 1864, and her mother, February 17, 1873.

George and Margaret Pitzer's children were: William P. Barnes, December 21, 1852-?, lived in Washington County, Maryland; Mary A. Barnes, October 17, 1854-?, lived in Washington County, Maryland; James A. Barnes, April 17, 1857-before 1884; twins Hannah M. Barnes and Emma E. Barnes, October 10, 1858-?; twins Clarinda V. Barnes and Margaret C. Barnes, October 6, 1863-?; George I. Barnes, December 15, 1866-?; Jacob S. Barnes, April 17, 1870-?; and Florence C. Barnes, August 21, 1871-?. Margaret Barnes died March 26, 1872.

George T. Barnes married a second time (not named) and was a farmer in Falling Waters, Berkeley County, West Virginia. He also served as school trustee.
