Ellen P. Perkins, nee Prull, age 82, of Glen Ellyn, died August 21 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, August 23 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard from 11AM until time of service 12:30 PM. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Mrs. Perkins is survived by her husband Lincoln of 30 years; a daughter, Bonnie L. Santi, two sons, William L. (Barbara) Shultz of Glen Ellyn and Ricky R. (Debra) Shultz of Lombard; 8 grandchildren, Dr. William R. (Annika) Shultz, Robert W. (Laurie) Shultz, Kimberly J. (Branigan) Robertson, Taryn A. Shultz, Ricky J. (Fiancee Emily Ebel) Shultz, Jordan L. Shultz, Kara Ann Vedros & Cassandra L. Vedros; 4 great-grandchildren, William Benjamin Shultz, Jack Gregory Shultz, Reese Christine Shultz & Scarlett Jean Robertson and one step-son, Charles L. Perkins. Ellen was a Volunteer at Central DuPage Hospital for many years. She was Co-founder of A to Z Auto Repair, Inc., Villa Park, with her first husband, William Edward Shultz in 1958. She worked for Morton Arboretum for 20 years in the gift shop; managed Honey Bear Farms in Carson Pirie Scott & Co., Yorktown; Volunteer and managed a restaurant in O'Hare Airport for several years. She was also an Easter Seal Volunteer. She was a resident of The Meadows in Glen Ellyn. Her primary interest was her family. She had a passion for world travel visiting Africa, South America; Europe and always encouraged people to live life saying to all, ‘ Do It While You Can." She had a strong Christian Faith and attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville. She enjoyed sharing stories of her youth in Chicago where her parents owned and ran Ellen's Grocery Store, on Chicago's North side, a few blocks from Riverview Amusement Park. Ellen often revisited the time when as a teenager, she was stuck up high on the malfunctioning Parachute Ride. Ellen attended Luther Institute, the first Lutheran High School in Chicago.
