ROBERT LEE LILES

On Friday August 16, 2013 Robert Lee Liles of Montgomery Village. Preceded in death by his loving wife, June Courson Liles. Devoted father of Carol Ostrowski (Jerry), Barbara Mansfield (Kathy Bainbridge); brother of Corinne Kleene and the late Ervena Falloon; grandfather of Kate Ostrowski and Alex Ostrowski; numerous nieces and nephews.
From May 1942 until July 1944, Col. Liles served with the Flying Tigers under the command of Gen. Claire Chennault. Col. Liles was squadron commander of the 16th Fighter Squadron and an ace with 5 confirmed victories. He was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Distinguished Flying Cross medals, and 2 Air Medals. Liles remained in the Air Force for 30 years and was wing commander of the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing from 1966-1968.

(corner of Harrison Street) Washington DC. on Saturday August 24, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where services will be held at Joseph Gawler's Sons Chapel at 5:30 p.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
