Richard attended high school in Kokomo, Indiana. Richard and his wife moved to the Ozarks in the late 1970's. He was a musician and loved playing the guitar. He was a talented artist, creating oil paintings, pencil and ink drawings and wood carving, especially wooden ducks. He was a member of the Cape Fair Christian Church.
