"Saturday morning, the 19th inst., at his late home at Toddsville occurred the death of Walter Rogers, after several weeks' illness from complications of heart trouble. Born in the town of Middlefield, July 7th, 1849, Mr. Rogers has been a resident of Middlefield, Otsego and Hartwick nearly all his life, having moved to Toddsville this spring from Fork Shop. United in marriage with Miss Harriet E. Smith in 1865, their union has been blessed with two daughters and a son, who survive, and to whom is extended the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends. Mr. Rogers was a farmer by occupation, and a man of genial disposition, generally well liked by his associates, an obliging neighbor and kind friend. The remains were removed from the late home Saturday morning to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Jarvis, at Fork Shop, at which place the funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m., the Rev. T. S. Hall of Cooperstown officiating. Interment at Lakewood. Besides the wife and daughter mentioned above are a daughter and son, Mrs. William Sponburg of Index, and Calvin Rogers of Toddsville, also one sister, Mrs. Charles Brooks of New Berlin. Mrs. Floyd Murdock of Clayville, Mrs. Harold Callahan of Utica and Claude Sponburgh of Cooperstown, grandchildren, were in attendance at the funeral.---Our Toddsville Reporter."
