Donald was the son of Willard and Glady Ruth (Walker) Agee. He was the grandson of Wesley "Ned" and Della Walker.

Donald married Shirley Orwing in 1948, they were the parents of five children:

3. Debra Lynn Agee born 1955
4. Donald Craig Agee, born 1957
5. Jeffrey Steven Agee, born 1960
