Born in Troy, he was the son of Ardenia (DeMizio) Simmons of Troy and the late Patrick Simmons.
He had resided in Troy all his life and was a graduate of Troy High School and recently Tractor Trailer Training School.
Jonathan was a technician at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany several years ago.
A communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Troy, he enjoyed working on sports cars, swimming, fishing and was an avid reader. Jonathan was well liked by many and lived to take care of his children.
Survivors in addition to his mother include four sons, Jonathan Simmons of Albany and Raymond, Patrick and Ryan Simmons all of Troy; his sister, Elizabeth Lister (James) of West Sand Lake; his brother, Ralph Simmons of Orlando, FL; a niece, Tara Simmons; a nephew, Christopher Lister; a great niece, Marissa Simmons and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
