Carol Lee Benson 1947-2013 CLEARFIELD, UT Carol Lee Benson passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Davis Hospital in Layton, UT. She was surrounded by those she loved. Carol was born in Preston, Idaho on May 27, 1947 to Reid. James Harper and Ludean Manning. She was reared in a loving home and brought her sweet nature and solid values into her own home.She graduated from Highland High School, Pocatello, ID, in 1966, where she was a member of the drill team. Carol attended Idaho State University and was president of the THETA PHI Chapter of the LAMBDA DELTA SIGMA Sorority.She married Ronald Thomas Benson on October 21, 1972 in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple. She faithfully followed Ron to military assignments in Utah, New Mexico, Germany and Nebraska. During those years they were blessed with four wonderful children. They and her eight grandchildren are the joys of her life.As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carol willingly served in many Relief Society and Primary organization positions. Professionally, she often worked as a daycare provider, both in and out of her home.Upon Ron's retirement in 1996, they moved to Clearfield UT. There she worked for almost seven years in the fine jewelry department at Kohls Department Store in Layton.Carol loved sewing and cross stitch and always had a project going. She dearly loved celebrating the Christmas season and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family. Carol is survived by her husband and sweetheart of forty years; one brother, Jim Harper (Chubbuck,ID); two sisters, Ann Stutznegger (Omaha,NE) and Connie Harper (Pocatello, ID); her three daughters, Candice Lee Bucksbee (Omaha, NE), Sherie Ann Pierce (Roy, UT), and Karissa Kay Benson (Westbrook, ME); her son, Thomas Dean Benson (C1earfie1d,UT); eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents 'and one brother. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Davis Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional service to Carol and her family.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Island View 1st Ward, 1895 S. Main St., Clearfield, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 20, at Aaron's Mortuary, 1050S. State St., Clearfield, and on Wednesday at the chapel from 9:40 to 10:40 am prior to services. Interment will be at the Bountifu1 City Cemetery.
