Born in Greenville, N.C., he was the son of the late Leroy and Margaret Otterbridge D. Duncan. He was the husband of Lillian F. Mackrey Duncan; they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 20th.
He served with the United States Army as a Sergeant during World War II from June 1942 - February 1946. In 1976, "Cal" retired as a Captain with the Lancaster City Police Department after 25 years of service. After retiring from the police force, Calvin Duncan worked for Sperry New Holland for ten years from 1976 - 1986 as Equal Employment Programs Manager. Afterwards, he joined the law firm of Hartman, Underhill, and Brubaker as Staff Investigator from 1986 - 1995 and continued as an investigator from 1995 - 1999 for the law firm of Sprague and Lewis.
He was a member of St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife a son, Richard E. Duncan, husband of Brenda J. Harteis; and a brother, Robert E., husband of Evelyn Duncan, both of Lancaster, survives him. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him. A daughter, Carol Duncan Robinson preceded him in death in April 1995.
Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Anthony's of Padua Catholic Church, 501 East Orange Street, Lancaster, Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Daniel C. Mitzel, celebrant. Friends may call at the Funeral Home of Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 West Orange Street, Lancaster, Wednesday, August 2, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and at St. Anthony's on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass.
