GROUP

Pilot of US Army Air Corps B-17E Flying Fortress #41-2667. Killed in a crash when the aircraft failed to gain altitude on takeoff from the airdrome at Whenuapai, Auckland,
New Zealand for a flight to Laverton, Victoria, Australia during World War II.

All eleven aboard died when the cargo of bombs detonated after the the plane had impacted the ground and caught fire.
