A native and lifelong resident of Asheville, he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Esta Davidson, and by his brother, Edwin.
He was an active member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and Korean War, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 37 years of government service. He was also a 50-year member of Biltmore Masonic Lodge No. 446. He was a deacon and former Sunday school teacher who liked people and never saw a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathryn Crawford Davidson; daughter, Linda Hicks and husband Herman, of Morganton; two granddaughters, Lisa Rohr and husband T.J., of Lenior, and Jill Ritchings and husband Ray, of Greer, SC; three great-grandsons, Benjamin and Jason Rohr, and Ian Ritchings, as well as nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be held at Beverly Hills Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Revs. Dr. Bob Gray and Randy Melton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial, with military rites by the NC National Guard Memorial Team to follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
