John Lawless, 75, formerly of Saunderstown, R.I., Jamestown, R.I., Key West, Fla., and Ketchikan, Alaska, passed away peacefully January 24, 2013. He was the husband of the late Eileen J. (Harrington) Lawless. He was born in Providence, the son of the late James and Winifred (Morley) Lawless. Mr. Lawless was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War era. He had a varied career including engineering, carpentry, commercial fishing, ship's captain, artist, adventurer, and avid traveler; and author of the book "Pot Luck." He leaves six children, Kathleen Lawless of Boulder, Col., John Lawless, Jr., of Jamestown, R.I., Mary Lawrence of Orange, Cal., Sheila Lawless-Burke of Warren, R.I., Patrick Lawless of Wakefield, R.I., and Eamon Lawless of Warren, R.I.; a brother, James Lawless of Wakefield, R.I.; a sister, Mary Lawless of Warwick, R.I.; and eight adored grandchildren. His funeral was held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 8:45am from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, R.I., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, R.I. Burial with military honors was in Rhode Island Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
