A horsewoman, Mrs. Ward competed in horse shows and went fox hunting when she was young. Later, she bred hunters and jumpers at a stable she owned and operated at P.S. Farm.
She was a gardener and member of The Weeders, a Philadelphia gardening club. She was a member of the committee that organized and ran Daisy Day, the annual benefit of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
During World War II, she was a Red Cross volunteer in France and Germany. She also worked on plasma research at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Survivors: a son, Philip H. Ward 4th; a daughter, Susan B.; and a brother.
