On a hill top due east, one mile from the Bowman Family Cemetery, (past the Fort Bowman stone home) and across Cedar Creek is the grave of Rebecca F. W. Bowman Hite (1821-1892). Her grave is alongside two of her children: George S. Hite born1852 and Frances M. Hite born 1857 – both children died young and at one tme were marked with field stones. Rebecca was the spouse of Charles J. Hite and she was the youngest daughter of Isaac Bowman and a sibling of Isaac S. Bowman (both buried in the Bowman Cemetery). Rebecca's hill top grave is located on the portion of the original Fort Bowman plantation that was in Warren County and it subsequently became her legacy. This farm is now incorporated within the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation holdings.
