Ray Allen Cooper Sr., a retired chief master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force, died at home on Feb. 26, 2007 surrounded by his wife, Dodie, and sons, Ray Jr. and Alvin. He was 69.

Mr. Cooper was born in New Mexico and educated in Peta-luma City Schools. He had a long career in the Air Force, serving in Vietnam and Iraq and retiring with the rank of chief master sergeant.

His heart was with his family, even though he was separated from them much of the time. Mr. Cooper and Dodie remarried for the third time on Oct. 18, 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Dodie, and sons, Ray Jr. and Alvin. He was predeceased by his son, Destin Joseph. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Wanda Glenn, Mary Stahl, Gerald Cooper, Donald Cooper, Kathy May and Judy Ulrich. He is surived by four grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society..
