VOORHEESVILLE, NY - Patricia M. Rivers, 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hornell, NY, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giovanna (Seu) Aini. She was a 1961 graduate of Hornell High School. Pat married Ron on May 16, 1970 at St. Ann's Church in Hornell, NY. Prior to starting her family, she worked as a lab technician at Steuben County Labs in Hornell. After living in Canisteo, NY for 18 years, they moved to Voorheesville where they have lived since 1988. After raising their children, Pat was employed as a substitute teacher's aide by Albany BOCES. She was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville. Pat loved her family and enjoyed cooking family dinners for them. She especially cherished spending time with her loving grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband, Roland, Pat is survived by her devoted children, Ann DeVost, Edward (Nichol) Rivers, Deborah (Noah) Smith and Gregory (Torre) Rivers. She is the cherished grandmother of Hannah, David and Samuel Smith, Alyssa Jewett, Abigail DeVost, Emma and Ava Rivers and Katherine Rivers. Also surviving are brothers, Anthony (Kathleen) Aini and Joseph (Mary) Aini of Hornell, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her brothers, John Aini and Dr. Matthew Aini. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of St. Peter's Hospital, especially the devoted nurses of the I.C.U., for the loving care of Pat during her final illness. At Pat's request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Chevalier at St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Gilda's Club Capital Region NY, One Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12210 or St. Matthew's Carillon Fund, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville, NY 12186 in memory of Patricia Rivers.
