Harold Charles Kirkpatrick, Jr., 86, passed away August 3, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucile and daughters, Linda (Larry) Tattersall and Kathleen McIntire, and one grandson, Curtis Dean McIntire.

Harold was born in Tampa, Florida on December 16, 1921 and raised in Jacksonville. He attended John Gorrie Junior High and Lee High School. He served in the Army during World War II. After the war, he joined the Army Air Corps/Air Force. He was sent to Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1947 where he married Lucile Allison Endres on July 31, 1948. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, Portland, Oregon and retired out of Tyndal Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida in 1966. He moved his family to Jacksonville to take a Civil Service job at Cecil Field. He retired with 43 years of service to his country in 1986.

Since then, he had divided his time between Jacksonville and his retirement home on the St. John's River in Welaka, Florida. He has been a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1966. He was a member of the National Travelers Camping Club. He loved to travel and had visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and cruised the Caribbean. He was a member of the Jacksonville and Palatka Shrine Clubs for over thirty years. It was his way of giving back to the organization that through its hospital for crippled children helped his daughters. He bought a vintage Edsel and could be seen driving in many of the Shrine parades in the area. He was noted for his unusual sense of humor, which he maintained until the end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Blanding Funeral Home (5753 Blanding Blvd.) Jacksonville, FL 32210. The Funeral Service Mass will be held on Friday, August 08, 2008 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (5752 Blanding Blvd.) Jacksonville, FL. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
